traditional-Style Kitchen in darien, Connecticut
This traditional-style kitchen in Darien came about as a result of a plea for help by one of the homeowners to her good friend, who then contacted me. The homeowners had engaged a talented builder to expand their current residence, but were in desperate need of fresh help with the redesign of the interior spaces since something felt seriously amiss to them as they watched the new walls being framed and witnessed the manner in which the rooms were being configured.
Since the kitchen is the heart of every home, I quickly swapped the proposed locations of the new kitchen and the family room nook, which then allowed me to significantly expand the size of the kitchen and family dining area. Extra windows were added and increased in size to provide for better natural light; walls were removed which would have interfered with sight lines and traffic flow between areas; and then the entire space was filled with an abundance of custom cabinetry to provide for a clean, uncluttered feel and for much-needed storage space for this family.
